A decisive medium in the exchange between the cells and the overall system is the extracellular matrix (Pischinger space), which is located in the connective tissue. Nutrients on the one hand, metabolic products and toxins on the other hand, are thus transported away via this connective tissue matrix. Cell and matrix thus form a holistic functional unit and are an important component of healthy body regulation.
